Easy Chandelier Style Updates

This update in my dining room was quick, easy and inexpensive so I thought I would share some details! Our chandelier was here when we bought the house.  It is simple and fits the age and style of the house so I didn't feel the need to replace it. BUT the way the chain was doubled up drove me nuts, and there was nothing I could do about it. It already had little chandelier shades on it, which is a great update if you have a similar style.  They are from Christmas Tree Shops and are very inexpensive. Shades really elevate the style quotient. I purchased new white ones when I updated and painted the room to replace the dark beige ones that were there.  (I plan on sharing my full dining room update in a future post!)

But the chain! It was bugging me! Then I learned about this Burlap Cord Cover from Pottery Barn. It is $19 and is a style-game changer! They usually have it in stock in stores. If you are crafty you could probably make it on your own, as it is pretty simple. And its burlap...one of my loves!

The cover is basically a 6 foot strip of burlap that snaps around your ugly chain and presto bingo hides everything, while giving your chandelier a whole new look!

I had to trim mine because 6 feet was a lot more than I need.  (Still trying to figure out what to do with the part I trimmed off! Who's crafty?)

This is what it looked like before I trimmed it...definitely was way too much fabric!

Here's a pulled back look.  I'm very happy with how it came out and it took about 10 minutes of snapping the snaps and trimming the length. I will forewarn that the snapping and trimming made a little mess of burlap "dust" so prep your area first. Quick, easy, and inexpensive!! Loving it.
